GiftSmith

GiftSmith is a book gifting company based in London, UK. The founder, Chloé, came to me with a goal of becoming the number one bookish gifting brand and creating a brand different from the usual twee affair which so often accompanies literary businesses - bold, fresh, and dare we say…cool?

I used hot pink and created a collection of fun illustrations which can be used as stickers to create a modern but not trendy feel, but used a serif typeface which, though bold, is vintage-inspired, to nod to the classic literature Chloé creates her products around.

I also redesigned, developed and wrote the copy for Chloé’s Shopify website, as well as her packaging including thank you cards, swing tags, tissue paper and stickers.

Chloé wanted the website to focus more on her gift line than pre-loved books, which was what her business started with, and she wanted it to have a library-like feel. I created this with rich forest greens and library card-esque features, as well as fun animations to add movement. I also cleaned up the layout of the website to improve user experience, improve conversion and lead guests towards the gifts.

As one of Chloé’s goals is to build GiftSmith’s social presence, I created a brand messaging house for her so she never has that all-too-common problem of wanting to post but not knowing what to say.
